In a recent Barna article, stats are given for the state of the church in the US. Though 73% of Americans call themselves Christians, the number drops to 7% when those same individuals are asked about some very basic tenets of the Christian faith. This 7% are considered Bible-believing Christians who actively participate in and promote their faith in Christ.
When only 7% of Christians hold to the basics of the Christian faith and actively participate in and promote their faith, it is obvious the Church in the US has fallen short of who she is called to be and what she is to be accomplishing. Over the last few years, the Lord began showing me some areas in the Church that must be reformed in order for the US Church to truly be the Church that God wants her to be. I believe these are key areas for the Church to address if she is to be healthy and successful.
The Lord directed me to preach on these reformation theses in 2018. The following messages scratch the surface on these “Articles for Reformation.”
The first of this series, “In Ruins,” is below. It sets up the message series.
