God gave the Church various gifts to equip her for ministry and to help her become mature, and to allow believers to encourage one another in the faith. These gifts are the tools God has provided the Church so she can be and do all He has called her to be and do.

There are numerous churches across the US that teach that God somehow has “taken back” the gifts He gave to the Church. This idea, called “Cessationism,” is the belief that some or all of the spiritual gifts in the New Testament have ceased either since the death of the apostles or since the Bible was collected into one book.
